Technical Bulletin : VOLVO S80 II

We are thrilled to introduce this technical bulletin dedicated to the VOLVO , Model S80 II , Version 1.6 D Drive (D 4164 T) 80 KW 109 HP 1560 Cm3.

SYMPTOMS:

P1586 – Rail sensor, flow meter, EGR valve copy sensor. Voltage too low.

-Fault code recorded in the engine control unit.

-Engine warning light (MIL) ON. The engine jerks.

-The engine stops occasionally. Difficulty when starting the engine. Power loss.

POSSIBLE CAUSES:

  • Defect in any of the sensors that share a power supply.
  • Defect in the electrical connectors and wiring of the sensors.
  • Defect in the hardware of the engine control unit.

Repair procedure:

  • Read the fault codes recorded in the control unit using the diagnostic tool.
  • Confirm that the fault code mentioned in the field symptoms of this bulletin is recorded.
  • Confirm that one or several of the symptoms mentioned in the field symptoms of this bulletin are reproduced.
  • Read the high-pressure fuel rail sensor parameters using the diagnostic tool.
  • Check the high-pressure fuel rail sensor wiring and connector if the reading values of the pressure sensor are not correct. Repair the wiring if necessary.
  • Replace the high-pressure fuel rail sensor and connector with a modified version if the wiring of the sensor is not damaged.
  • Check the other sensors that share an electrical power supply with the rail pressure sensor if the above-mentioned checks are satisfactory. Repair or replace if necessary.
  • Check the output voltage of the control unit to the different sensors if the above- mentioned checks are satisfactory. Repair or replace the unit if necessary.
